About Maurice
Deep roots. Proven results. A councillor who knows Ward 1 from the inside out — because it's his home.

Maurice Brenner — Regional Councillor, Ward 1
A Life in Service
I know Ward 1 because I've lived it — raised a family here, fought for my neighbours here, and dedicated my career to making Pickering a place we're all proud to call home.
Maurice is a proud recipient of both the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Award and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Award — recognising over 40 years of dedication to community service. He's not a newcomer to public life; he's the real thing.
As a long-term Pickering resident living in Ward 1, Maurice knows Pickering and Durham Region, its neighbourhoods, and its people. He and his partner Anne have a blended family of four adult children who grew up in Pickering, and are now proud grandparents to three grandchildren.
Beyond politics, Maurice's career has been centred on Community Advocacy and Human Rights. After retiring as Managing Director for Human Rights, Diversity and Fairness in the housing sector, he continues as a Senior Human Rights Consultant — working across Canada to promote equality and fairness.
The Choice Is Clear
Pickering needs a councillor who has already built the relationships, knows the files, and won't spend years learning on the job.
